The Elsali Foundation exists to bridge the cultural divide between Scottish communities and minority ethnic communities when it comes to child safeguarding. We promote the welfare, safety, and protection of all children in Scotland by providing culturally sensitive education, training, and dialogue — ensuring that every family, regardless of their cultural background, understands and can engage with Scotland's child protection framework.
We envision a Scotland where cultural diversity is a strength, not a barrier — where statutory agencies and minority communities work hand in hand, where families from all backgrounds are empowered to safeguard their children, and where no child falls through the gap between cultural norms and legal protections. A Scotland where understanding flows both ways.

From the ground up, we build bridges between communities and institutions — through education, dialogue, and advocacy.
We deliver culturally sensitive training and workshops to help minority communities understand Scotland's child safeguarding laws, statutory guidance, and support systems.
We facilitate conversations between statutory agencies — social services, schools, NHS Scotland, Police Scotland — and minority communities to build mutual understanding.
We offer direct, culturally appropriate support and signposting to families navigating Scotland's care and child protection systems.
We train community leaders, faith leaders, volunteers, and frontline workers in culturally competent safeguarding practice.
We conduct and disseminate research on the intersection of culture and child protection, advocating for policy reform that reflects the diversity of Scottish society.
We build partnerships with faith organisations, community groups, local authorities, and national bodies to extend our reach and deepen our impact across Scotland.
